Opis: The stain uses an enhanced Periodic Acid-Schiff (PAS) method for detection of glycoprotein sugars. The supplied agent first oxidises the cis-diol sugar groups to aldehydes. RAPIDstain™ can be used after glycoprotein staining to detect non-glycosylated proteins and the use of the stain enhances glycoprotein staining. Glutaraldehyd 25% roztwór wodny

Opis: Glutaraldehyde is also referred to as glutaral, 1,5-pentanedione, potentiated acid glutaraldehyde, sonacide, and glutardialdehyde. Pure monomeric glutaraldehyde has an absorbance peak at 280 nm and the main impurity, possibly a polymer, has an absorbance peak at 235 nm. Upon analysis, this product is 25-28% by titration and has an A235/A280 ratio of not more than 0,5. Monomeric glutaraldehyde may be purified from polymeric glutaraldehyde by treatment with charcoal (5% w/v) and subsequent filtration (3-4 times). Untreated glutaraldehyde has an absorption at 235 nm that is 5 times greater than that at 280 nm, whereas, after three washings the values are about equal. Glutaraldehyde is a bifunctional cross-linking reagent, reacting with NH2 groups to form Schiff's bases.

Opis: APTS is a very useful green fluorescent dye for labeling glycoproteins or sugar molecules in general. The labeling occurs via reductive amination which involves the formation of a Schiff base between the amine of APTS and the aldehyde or ketone of the sugar, followed by the reduction of the Schiff base linkage to a stable carbon-nitrogen bond. The multi-anionic nature of the dye makes it ideal for the studies of carbohydrate molecules by high resolution capillary electrophoresis.

This labeling technique has been widely used for the labeling and subsequent sequencing of oligosaccharides and glycoproteins. The negative charges of the dye facilitate the electrophoretic separation of the degradation products of carbohydrate polymers.
